Good mascara technique makes a bigger difference than most people think. Here is how to get lashes that look lifted and defined, not clumpy.
Step by step
- Start at the root. Place the brush as close to the base of your lashes as you can.
- Wiggle, then lift. Wiggle the brush side to side at the root, then sweep it up and out to the tips. This lifts and separates.
- Do the outer corner. Turn the brush slightly to catch the short outer lashes and sweep them outward.
- Build while it is wet. Add a second coat right away for more length and definition, before the first coat dries.
- Lower lashes: use the tip of the brush, very lightly, if you want them defined.
Avoid clumps
- Do not pump the wand in the tube: it pushes in air and dries the formula.
- Wipe excess off the brush on the edge of the tube.
- Comb through with a clean brush if two lashes stick together.
Natural or bold
One coat gives a natural, defined look for every day. Two or three coats build more length and drama for the evening.
